It hadn’t been hard to track down Dean. All you really had to do was follow the trail of angel dust. The truly hard part of the task was getting him alone—which he simply never was. He was always had someone with him, whether it was one of his sons, his brother, a friend. In all honesty, he would have had no qualms with just slaughtering the whole house. It would have been easy enough to do and still have gotten him what he wanted, but that would have attracted too much attention. And Phoenix would have been displeased if the effect she wanted was ruined by the fact that Alloces had attracted too much attention in the initial grab.
So he waited.
He stayed just out of range so that Amy or Ruby, should she come around, wouldn’t pick up on him and come looking, but close enough so that he could still see what was happening. He waited through the arrival of new friends, and as the hunters came and went on their various jobs. It wasn’t for a few weeks, however, before Dean and a small tiny blond went to get into his car. From the gear she was hauling, it looked like they were going to be gone for some time. There was his opportunity, once and for all.
Killing the tiny blond would be easier, and attract less attention, but it would still attract some. It was quieter if he just took Dean when he was alone, so he followed, making his way through the back roads of the Midwest, and waiting silently outside the roadhouse where they stopped. He could care less about what went on inside—that was of no interest to him. What was, was when Dean came out the next morning, alone, and climbed into his car to leave again.
Jackpot.
